dc.description.abstract In Yemen, the use of wastewater in irrigation is imperative due to the acute water crisis. In this objective, our research explores how farmers perceive wastewater quality and also evaluation the physicochemical, microbiological, and toxicological quality of both wastewater used and vegetables consumed by the Yemenis and Moroccans. The survey study found that farmers prefer wastewater to avoid agricultural challenges such as high cost of pumping groundwater, to save money on chemical fertilizers (80%), and because of the easy access to wastewater (90%). Hygienic microbiological evaluation showed that the samples collected from Sana’a wastewater canal were the most contaminated. Its contamination led to high microbial pollution in most vegetables varieties that used this water source. In Morroco, heavy metals evaluation in the Skhirat-Rabat region, indicate that there is a substantial build-up of heavy metal concentration in canal wastewater above FAO and WHO recommendations. Soil samples results showed ordinary values except for Cr, and Pb. On the other hand; precautions were conducted to discard food chain safety risks, in case of wastewater treatment, the affinity ratio properties of crude olive stones (biofilter) showed high capacity to remove Pb, Co3 and Cl-. And when, fresh-cut vegetables pollution was studied, the mixture of sodium chloride and vinegar (SCV) showed good effects to control K. oxytoca surface spoilage. fr_FR
